How do you choose the diameter of your pétanque boule?

Depending on your morphology

Most usual diameters for men: 74 - 75 mm
Most usual diameters for women: 72 - 73 mm

Depending on your style of play

Pointers will prefer a small diameter as it allows more accurate placement of the boule.
Shooters will prefer a larger diameter for easier release from the hand.

Select weight

How do you choose the weight of your pétanque boule?

To meet the needs of all kinds of petanque players, Obut offers them a comprehensive range of boules, in all the approved weights.

The most usual weights for men: 690 - 710 g
The most usual weights for women: 680 - 700 g

Depending on your type of play, you will opt for a different weight:

Pointers will prefer a heavier boule because it stops faster.
Shooters will prefer a lighter boule, because less effort is required, and the shot is more precise.

To be used in official competitions, after meeting all the requirements of their specifications, petanque boules must be approved by the International and French Petanque and Jeu Provençal Federations (F.I.P.J.P. and F.F.P.J.P.).
