Our unique know-how
At Obut, no question of moving the production of petanque boules abroad....
La Boule Obut is still situated in France, at Saint-Bonnet-le-Château in the Department of Loire where the company was founded in 1955 (42). The factory is a real metallurgical site, where steel is forged, welded, machined and polished to a satin finish.
Since the invention of the first petanque boule, the teams have never stopped innovating and this has enabled the firm to keep production in France.
Over 3 generations this family firm has established itself as a leading player in the manufacturing of petanque boules.
At OBUT we are prouder than ever to assert our identity, which is part of the national heritage.
INNOVATION SERVING FRENCH KNOW-HOW
Since the invention of the first Obut pétanque boule in 1955, the teams have continued to innovate.
As a result, we have been able to keep the company in France. All our competition and leisure pétanque boules are made here at our factory in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château.
It's a formidable challenge to try and adapt to new consumer trends, for example with the customisation of pétanque boules and pétanque bags and cases.
More than ever, we are asserting our identity, which is an integral part of our national heritage.
OBUT, the only manufacturer in the world to make 100% stainless steel leisure boules
It took the teams at Saint-Bonnet-le-Château several years to design and develop the production of high quality stainless steel leisure boules with a patented OBUT technology.
All our stainless Leisure models are without doubt the best performing boules ever seen in their category: guaranteed balance, all 3 boules in the set exactly the same size and weight, durable and environmentally friendly.
No more rust in the garden and plenty of boisterous games to come with friends or family, on the beach, in the mountains, by the roadside, ... Play wherever you feel like it.
And we have benefited from the EPV (Living Heritage Company) mark of distinction since 2012.
A passion for a job well done, the determination to remain Made in France, all these efforts have paid off since we have enjoyed the distinction of being an EPV (Living Heritage Company) since 2012.
The goal of 100% French made goods also extends to our range of bags and petanque accessories, since 90% of them are made within less than 100 km of our OBUT factory.
"Protecting jobs, maintaining local production serving the well-being of all and perpetuating the OBUT brand are the objectives I have set myself".
Romain Souvignet, director of OBUT
